What have I been up to???
Yes, I have been busy. Have been doing a lot of things…
1. I sent off the SMS FQ Swap Parcels.
2. I FINALLY got around sorting my stash!!! YES!!! With all that upcycling to be done, My fabric stash tends to get mixed up with the clothes that are overflowing the boxes and shelves they are meant to occupy. Now they are all sorted, boxed in and guess what? They’re even labelled!!! Congratulations to me!!!
3. I have been thinking for quite some time about this. Since I have now come to my decision of becoming a “Full-Time-Quilter” I thought I should stop the random quilting that I do right now and get that organized. I need a plan, something that I can roughly follow (or not when I really feel like I should be doing something else!)
I have come out with a rough plan : Here it is… but i do need help with the titles…
Mondays will be the days to start something new
Tuesdays I’ll be cutting the fabric I need for that something new! (There’s no electricity and I cannot use my machine)
Wednesdays & Thursdays I’ll assemble the blocks & the Quilt top
Fridays & Saturdays I’ll baste and Quilt it.
Sundays will be free days!!!
Apart from this weekly plan I also plan to host a giveaway every month. If nobody enters, whatever I was giving away, will go to charity! If its fabric, I’ll make up a couple of small pieces out of it to give away.
Since I was born on the 2nd of Jan, I think I’ll host the giveaway on the 2nd of every month. Opportunity will be open till the 7th of every month. And on the 8th (Thats the date my dear Husband was born on) I’ll declare the winner.
Wow! Thats a lot of planning!
4. I have decided to shift my personal blog to tumblr permanently. I really like the appearance of blogs here.
So I think I should get my butt moving! See ya all soon… (Wish me luck…)
Why Another Blog???
Yes, I needed another blog to talk… To talk about the process of making quilts that I am enjoying so much. My blog at wordpress is more about my shop… Shruti’s - the upcycle shop.
Shruti’s was a venture I started because I was moved by the plight of the women staying in the slums. They had the talent. They had the resources. They just lacked opportunity. I took it to them.
But all this while, when I designed things that they would make. I started getting involved in the whole process. I started sewing myself. Something I had never even thought of doing. And I’m enjoying the process immensely.
Every quilt needs a lot of planning and calculations. But Its fun to do that. Designing blocks and cutting (I have to cut with scissors ‘coz I didn’t get Rotary mats here… LOL… ) and sewing and sashing and quilting and binding! Its a wonderful and colorful journey and I’m enjoying every bit of it.
